WheInfosec / Thick-Client Security Assessment

Look deeper into desktop security.

Review desktop applications at the intersection of local operating systems, installed software, and backend services.

What we assess

  • Local storage, configuration files, and embedded secrets
  • Client-server communication and trust assumptions
  • Local permissions and privilege boundaries
  • Update mechanisms, application behavior, and dependencies

What you receive

An assessment summary, validated findings with reproduction steps, risk context, and practical remediation guidance. Retesting scope and timing are agreed as part of the engagement.

Before we begin

Can you test a production system?

Testing environments, timing, and permitted techniques are agreed before work begins. A staging environment can help reduce operational risk; production testing requires clearly defined boundaries.

How long does an assessment take?

Timing depends on the size and complexity of the scope, the access provided, and testing constraints. We agree on a schedule after reviewing your requirements.

Does an audit guarantee that a system is secure?

No assessment can prove the absence of every vulnerability. Findings reflect the agreed scope, access, and assessment period. Continued testing is useful as your systems change.

Relevant OWASP Top 10:2025 themes

These themes are adapted where relevant to desktop applications and their backends. Local permissions, binaries, and operating-system trust boundaries require additional testing.
